Tilt is hiring a Head of Business Intelligence to lead the BI function end-to-end. This is a leadership role focused on data modeling, metadata management, and building a trustworthy foundation for company-wide analytics.
You'll manage a team of US and international BI Developers, own the data models and semantic layer that power business decisions, and maintain a living library of key metrics with reference SQL implementations. BI at Tilt is not about dashboards—it's about building accurate, shared models that every team can trust and build upon.
Key responsibilities include: owning the BI function and roadmap; building reporting data models that reflect each team's needs while finding commonality across the business; making metadata a first-class product with AI- and human-readable descriptions; ensuring the entire company operates from consistent, trusted definitions; prioritizing a long and shifting list of stakeholder requests; and growing the technical bar and business fluency of your team.
You'll report to the Head of Business Acceleration and stay close to the craft. This is hands-on leadership: you review dbt work from your team, hold quality standards through code review rather than by writing the work yourself, and jump in at the right moment without micromanaging. You have expert-level SQL, fluency with AI coding tools, and deep knowledge of dimensional modeling and semantic layers.
The role requires nimble judgment across engaged stakeholders—knowing which asks matter, which projects are drifting, and where the bar is slipping. You can sit with teams, understand their business, and translate that into shared models. You've managed analysts or analytics engineers, raised team bars, and developed talent while maintaining speed and correctness.
Travel to Asia is expected 3–4 times per year, plus twice-yearly company onsites.
