SentiLink is a Series B fintech company building identity verification and fraud detection solutions that power much of the US financial system. The company has achieved significant traction with real-time APIs verifying hundreds of millions of identities, backed by top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Craft Ventures, and recognized by Forbes as a Fintech 50 company.
As Head of Applied Machine Learning for the fraud detection and identity verification domain, you will lead a team of 4 applied ML scientists (growing to 6 by end of 2026) and own the complete ML lifecycle for fraud and identity models. This is a hands-on people management role where technical credibility is essential—you'll review code, guide modeling decisions, and stay deeply involved in the work while building strategic direction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Direct management of the applied ML team, setting engineering and modeling practices
- End-to-end ownership of fraud detection and identity verification models: data acquisition, feature engineering, labeling strategy, model training, experimentation, production deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Strategic partnership with senior leadership, Product, Engineering, and Risk to set priorities and deliver on aggressive timelines
- Technical mentorship and guidance on modeling and architecture decisions
- Research into emerging fraud patterns and development of new ML capabilities
- Leadership on AI integration within the team's own workflows and thoughtful evaluation of where AI belongs in products
- Representation in product strategy discussions to shape future direction
The role requires 10+ years of industry ML/statistics experience (or 7+ with a PhD) including 6+ years managing ML/data science teams across multiple companies. Startup experience is strongly preferred. Experience in fraud, identity, fintech, banking, or financial services is strongly desired. You must have a strong track record of developing and deploying production ML models, writing production-quality Python code, and owning technical domains end-to-end with measurable business impact. Fluency with modern LLMs and AI-assisted workflows is expected, along with sound judgment on data governance and information security. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator comfortable with senior leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
