Role Overview:
Wasabi seeks a Hardware Operations Engineer to support and maintain its growing global server fleet in a 24x7x365 production environment. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping infrastructure running smoothly through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware issues (servers, storage, networking, cabling, power) in live production data centers
• Write Python scripts to automate repetitive fixes, run diagnostics at scale, and speed up ticket resolution
• Partner with cross-functional teams (DevOps, supply chain, vendors) to maintain spare inventory and smooth hardware operations
• Build dashboards and reporting tools to track hardware health and team workflow
• Provide on-call/off-hours support and travel to data center sites as needed
• Evaluate new hardware, run diagnostics, and support software deployments
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability and processes as the company scales
You will work closely with Hardware Operations, DevOps, and other technical teams. The role requires someone who can stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborate effectively across the organization.
Requirements:
• 7+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting server, storage, or network hardware in large-scale data centers
• Working knowledge of Linux and Python; comfortable writing scripts to automate hardware tasks
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to different audiences
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities shift quickly
• Team-first attitude; this role is collaborative and works across multiple teams daily
