Until is building a "pause button" for biology through organ-scale reversible cryopreservation. The company is developing technology to preserve donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, then rewarm them uniformly for transplant. This addresses a critical bottleneck in organ transplantation and lays groundwork for whole-body cryopreservation. The core technical challenge is the rewarming problem: rapidly and uniformly rewarming whole organs to restart cryopreserved biology. This requires first-of-its-kind electrical systems capable of delivering high power into complex biological loads. You will work on an interdisciplinary team developing perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming hardware. The role is hands-on and requires strong fundamentals in electrical engineering and applied physics. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and building electrical systems for high-power delivery into biological loads - Deriving back-of-the-envelope models from circuit laws, electromagnetics, and thermal physics - Wiring up and testing hardware in the lab - Collaborating with physicists, biologists, and mechanical engineers - Moving quickly to prototype and iterate on solutions You should be comfortable with both theoretical modeling and experimental validation, with high autonomy and a drive to solve seemingly impossible problems. This is a role for someone who enjoys the full stack—from first-principles physics to hands-on lab work.
