Handshake is a career platform powering 25 million job seekers, 1 million+ employers, and 1,600 educational institutions. The company recently launched Handshake AI, a rapidly growing AI data business that has scaled from $0 to ~$1B run rate in 2025, working directly with frontier AI labs to create evaluations and push the boundary of AI model development.
As Growth Operations Lead, you will architect and scale strategic growth initiatives that drive revenue, product adoption, and market leadership for Handshake's AI-driven products. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you own the growth roadmap end-to-end, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and GTM teams.
Key responsibilities include: owning critical growth initiatives from strategy through execution; designing and running scalable growth systems and data-driven experiments to optimize the acquisition-to-activation funnel; synthesizing product, market, and operational data to surface opportunities and drive prioritization; working directly with leadership to define success metrics and drive accountability; and solving high-priority, ambiguous problems with a structured, data-first approach while building playbooks and systems from zero to one.
You will require close collaboration with the San Francisco-based team and availability during core U.S. business hours. The ideal candidate has 3-4+ years in growth, product, strategy, or operations at fast-paced tech companies, ideally in strategy/ops-heavy environments such as marketplaces, logistics, on-demand platforms, or AI products at early-stage or high-growth startups. You should have a track record of owning growth initiatives end-to-end with measurable outcomes, advanced data skills (SQL or Python), familiarity with BI tools and funnel metrics, strong problem-solving and cross-functional influence, and an entrepreneurial mindset comfortable with ambiguity. A bachelor's degree is required; engineering background, top-20 university, or MBA is strongly preferred.
Extra credit qualifications include experience launching or scaling AI/ML products, familiarity with technical GTM motions and customer segmentation, and a history of building scalable systems in high-growth environments.
