Salary: USD 150,000 - 230,000 / annual
Cohere, a leading enterprise AI company headquartered in Toronto, is seeking a Global Public Policy Manager to lead policy engagement on compute infrastructure, export controls, AI competitiveness, and sovereign AI strategies. This role sits at the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and business strategy as governments worldwide increasingly view AI as critical national infrastructure.
You will monitor and analyze developments in AI infrastructure, data centers, energy policy, semiconductors, export controls, and national AI strategies. You'll develop Cohere's policy positions on sovereign AI, compute access, digital sovereignty, and AI competitiveness, positioning the company as a trusted partner in emerging government discussions around AI infrastructure and national competitiveness.
Key responsibilities include supporting engagement with governments developing AI infrastructure investment programs, collaborating with commercial, product, and corporate development teams on strategic public-private partnership opportunities, representing Cohere in policy discussions, and producing policy analysis and thought leadership on AI infrastructure trends.
You bring 5–7 years of experience in public policy, technology policy, trade policy, energy policy, or national security policy, with a strong understanding of geopolitical technology issues, AI infrastructure, export controls, or digital sovereignty. You excel at assessing emerging policy developments, identifying strategic business implications, and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred experience includes work on semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, energy policy, telecommunications, or national competitiveness issues, plus familiarity with government AI investment programs and international technology policy.
