Perplexity AI is seeking an experienced Global Mobility Lead to build and manage the programs that enable employees to join, relocate, and work across borders. You will own the complete global mobility function, including policy development, immigration casework management, vendor relationships, and cross-functional partnerships with Legal, Finance, and People Ops.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Mobility Strategy & Execution: Own the full mobility policy suite covering relocation, permanent transfers, short-term and long-term international assignments, remote/cross-border work arrangements, and business travel thresholds. Run individual mobility cases end-to-end, from scoping through landing, including package design, cost estimation, immigration sequencing, tax and social-security analysis, payroll setup, relocation logistics, and post-arrival support.
Immigration Casework: Manage employment-based immigration cases in partnership with outside counsel, including H-1B (cap-subject and change-of-employer/AC21 timing), L-1, TN, E-3, O-1, F-1 OPT/CPT, and employer-sponsored permanent residence. Own internal timelines, start-date feasibility assessment, and manager/candidate communication throughout the process. Handle daily immigration intake and case execution, including employer questionnaires, supporting documents, employment verification letters, signatures, counsel follow-ups, and case closure.
Compliance & Entity Strategy: Own right-to-work compliance across jurisdictions (I-9 and E-Verify in the US, Home Office share-code checks in the UK, and equivalent checks in EU and other markets). Decide and document the entity/employment model for each new market (direct entity, EOR, or non-resident payroll registration) in partnership with Finance and Legal.
Vendor & Cost Management: Own the mobility vendor stack including immigration counsel, relocation, tax, and EOR/global payroll providers. Scope SLAs, manage costs, and track performance. Model and track mobility costs including sponsorship and premium-processing fees to enable leadership decision-making with real numbers. Obtain and document required approvals before committing to sponsorship or spend.
Data & Systems: Build the tracking layer for mobility case pipeline, immigration deadlines and expirations, and compensation comparisons. Stand up mobility dashboards tracking case volume, cycle time, cost per move, band penetration, offer-to-band variance, and equity-gap trends. Write employee-facing documentation to make moves and pay decisions predictable and explainable.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in global mobility with real ownership of cross-border moves and immigration casework (not vendor hand-offs)
- Working fluency in US employment-based immigration and at least one other major jurisdiction's work-authorization regime (UK, EU, or Canada)
- Strong analytical skills: comfortable with spreadsheets and HRIS reporting; able to build defensible models and explain underlying assumptions
- Sound judgment about risk, including knowing when to escalate to Legal, when to flag classification or permanent-establishment exposure, and how to decline requests clearly
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting policies, verification letters, offer rationales, and executive-facing recommendations
- Comfort with ambiguity, high volume, and shifting priorities
