TRM Labs is an AI-powered intelligence platform helping public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime, particularly crypto-enabled financial crime. As a Global Investigator on the triage team, you will be the first line of operational defense in a fast-moving crypto disruption pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process inbound complaint data and validate outputs from TRM's AI investigation platform, routing cases into investigative pipelines that result in frozen scam proceeds and seized assets.
- Make disposition decisions that determine whether complaints become freezes, takedowns, recovery handoffs, legal-process drafts, victim notifications, or closures.
- Validate and route hundreds of complaint dispositions per week, feeding a live asset-recovery pipeline.
- Identify and catch AI errors—false positives, merged syndicates, misclassified scam patterns—before they propagate downstream.
- Enrich complaint selectors using a stack of 40+ commercial data-source integrations.
- Trace funds through consolidation wallets to regulated exchanges or other actionable endpoints on high-priority complaints.
- Own clean shift handoffs to maintain around-the-clock operation continuity, providing EMEA-hours coverage that keeps the queue moving.
- Participate in formal on-call rotation for high-priority events (hacks, law-enforcement support, time-sensitive matters) on a weekly basis with occasional weekend coverage.
- React quickly to incoming complaint surges and live takedown events.
- Continuously learn new patterns in crypto-enabled crime.
Team & Environment:
You will work alongside seasoned investigators and rising talent. The team operates on a follow-the-sun model with daily coordination in your local time zone. TRM is a high-velocity, high-ownership organization that expects clarity, follow-through, and impact. Priorities and targets change quickly; you will operate with high ambiguity, personal ownership, and close cross-functional collaboration. The pace rewards urgency, adaptability, and outcomes.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of investigative or analytical experience in the public or private sector, including hands-on blockchain analysis.
- Demonstrated experience tracing funds across chains and attributing addresses to real-world actors, with judgment to distinguish unattributed services from privately controlled (unhosted) wallets.
- Experience building or contributing to cases that led to a freeze, seizure, arrest, or takedown.
- Strong AI fluency: comfort using AI tools as a daily co-pilot, plus judgment to know when they are wrong. AI fluency is a baseline expectation and will be evaluated during interviews.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, fluid environment where project scope and emphasis shift quarter to quarter.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
