Fluidstack is building civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure, acquiring power, designing and operating data centers at gigawatt scale. The company is singularly focused on deploying frontier compute infrastructure faster than competitors, with teams spanning hardware and software.
As Global Insurance & Risk Manager, you will own every insurance program at Fluidstack end to end. This is a high-autonomy role where you drive critical risk management across a rapidly scaling, capital-intensive operation.
Key responsibilities:
- Own all insurance programs across property, construction, liability, and cargo lines, from program design and broker selection through placement, renewal, and budget management.
- Run claims from first notice to resolution, driving brokers, third-party administrators (TPAs), carriers, and Legal to outcomes rather than waiting on them.
- Drive loss control and property risk engineering across operating sites and active gigawatt-scale construction projects, turning risk engineering recommendations into completed fixes by coordinating with Construction, HSE, and Data Center Operations teams.
- Gather and analyze exposure data across a rapidly growing fleet and deliver complete, on-time renewal submissions to underwriters every cycle.
- Set insurance requirements in leases, EPC contracts, and vendor/customer agreements; review counterparty terms to prevent coverage gaps from surfacing mid-claim.
- Manage vendor and broker relationships: source, evaluate, and negotiate with insurance brokers and carriers; run renewal RFPs to ensure competitive pricing and coverage terms.
- Ensure coverage meets contractual requirements from lenders, JV partners, customers, and landlords (minimum limits, additional insured status, certificates of insurance); maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Explain insurance implications to engineers, lawyers, and executives clearly enough that they act on recommendations.
The role operates within Fluidstack's culture of full autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and ownership of outcomes end to end without permission required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial property and casualty insurance programs on the corporate risk management or brokerage side; deep knowledge of how property, construction, and liability lines are structured, placed, and priced.
- Proven track record running claims to resolution, including large or contested claims, coordinating litigation counsel, TPAs, adjusters, and carriers on strategy.
- Field experience with property risk engineering: walking sites, pushing loss control recommendations through stakeholders who own the fix, and anticipating what underwriters will flag.
- Experience building renewal submissions under hard deadlines with high-volume, messy exposure data from multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to read contracts for insurance terms and identify gaps between agreement requirements and actual policy coverage.
- Strong communication skills to explain insurance to non-insurance audiences (engineers, lawyers, executives).
- Bonus qualifications: Insurance designations (CPCU, ARM); experience in capital-intensive or construction-heavy industries (data centers, energy, semiconductors); construction insurance programs (builder's risk, OCIP/CCIP); high-value equipment in transit (cargo, stock throughput).
