Salary: USD 175,000 - 190,000 / annual

Via Transportation is a global transportation technology company transforming public transit systems into smart, data-driven networks. The company serves hundreds of agency partners worldwide and is recognized as the leading transportation technology provider globally. As Global Head of Payroll, you will lead and scale payroll operations across Via's global footprint, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for employees across the United States, Europe, Israel, and other international markets. You will be responsible for global payroll strategy, operations, compliance, vendor management, and payroll technology. Key responsibilities include: - Leading global payroll operations across all countries and entities with timely, accurate, and compliant processing - Managing, coaching, and developing a team of Payroll Managers and professionals across multiple regions - Establishing scalable payroll governance, controls, policies, and operating procedures for a growing global workforce - Managing relationships with global payroll providers, Employer of Record partners, tax advisors, and other vendors - Partnering with People Operations to ensure accurate and timely flow of employee data (new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, leave, equity, organizational changes) - Collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Equity Administration, and Legal on compliance and reporting - Ensuring accurate processing and reporting of equity compensation (RSUs, stock options, and related payroll tax obligations) - Driving payroll technology strategy and optimization, including Workday Payroll, global platforms (P&I Loga, iiPay), integrations, automation, and system implementations - Developing payroll metrics, dashboards, and reporting packages (headcount, payroll spend analysis, variance analysis, tax reporting, executive reporting) - Ensuring accurate and timely payroll tax filings, registrations, remittances, garnishments, and statutory reporting globally - Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, reduce risk, and enhance employee experience - Serving as senior escalation point for complex payroll matters You will be a hands-on leader who operates strategically while remaining close to operational details, driving excellence in a fast-paced, high-growth, globally distributed environment. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field - 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including multinational payroll operations - Demonstrated experience leading global payroll teams across multiple countries and regions - Strong understanding of payroll taxes, financial controls, and payroll compliance - Proven ability to build scalable payroll processes and lead through growth, change, and system transformation - Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders - Hands-on leadership style with willingness to dive into operational details - Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities - Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across all organizational levels - High degree of discretion and commitment to confidentiality Preferred qualifications: - Experience with Workday and global payroll platforms (iiPay, P&I Loga, Malam, or similar) - Experience supporting publicly traded companies and equity compensation payroll processing - Experience leading payroll transformations, implementations, and integration projects - Familiarity with SOX controls, public company reporting requirements, and audit environments - Experience building and mentoring high-performing payroll teams
