Salary: USD 175,000 - 190,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform that powers modern public transit networks globally. As Global Head of Payroll, you will lead and scale payroll operations across Via's international footprint, spanning the United States, Europe, Israel, and other markets. You will own global payroll strategy, operations, compliance, vendor management, and technology implementation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading global payroll operations across all countries and entities, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing
- Building, coaching, and developing a team of Payroll Managers and professionals across multiple regions
- Establishing scalable payroll governance, controls, policies, and operating procedures to support workforce growth
- Managing relationships with global payroll providers, Employer of Record (EOR) partners, tax advisors, and vendors
- Partnering with People Operations to ensure accurate employee data flow (new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, leave, equity, organizational changes)
- Collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Equity Administration, and Legal on compliance and reporting
- Overseeing equity compensation processing (RSUs, stock options) and related payroll tax obligations
- Driving payroll technology strategy, including Workday Payroll, global platforms (P&I Loga, iiPay), integrations, automation, and system implementations
- Developing payroll metrics, dashboards, and reporting (headcount, payroll spend, variance, tax reporting, executive-level)
- Ensuring accurate payroll tax filings, registrations, remittances, garnishments, and statutory reporting globally
- Identifying process improvements, risk reduction, and employee experience enhancements
- Serving as senior escalation point for complex payroll matters

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, including multinational payroll operations
- Demonstrated experience leading global payroll teams across multiple countries and regions
- Strong understanding of payroll taxes, financial controls, and payroll compliance
- Proven ability to build scalable payroll processes and lead through growth, change, and system transformation
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Hands-on leadership style with willingness to dive into operational details
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills
- High discretion and commitment to confidentiality
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Workday and global payroll platforms (iiPay, P&I Loga, Malam, or similar)
- Experience supporting publicly traded companies and equity compensation payroll processing
- Experience leading payroll transformations, implementations, and integration projects
- Familiarity with SOX controls, public company reporting requirements, and audit environments
- Track record building and mentoring high-performing payroll teams
