NALA is a high-growth fintech building cross-border payments infrastructure for the next billion users. Since 2022, the company has scaled 120x, grown to 150+ employees, raised $50M+ from top-tier investors, and was named to Forbes Fintech 50 in 2025. The company operates two core products: NALA (a consumer app enabling cheaper, faster cross-border transfers from UK/US/EU to Africa and Asia) and Rafiki (B2B payments infrastructure powering global payments for enterprise clients). As Global Head of Compliance, you will build and lead a world-class compliance and risk function enabling NALA to scale safely across consumer and B2B payments. Your mission is to protect customers, licenses, and reputation while maintaining the pace required for a high-growth fintech. You will lead compliance strategy across AML/CTF, sanctions, consumer protection, licensing, regulatory reporting, and financial crime controls across Western licensed markets (UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia) with emerging markets folded in over time. Key responsibilities include: leading MLROs and BSA/AML officers across multiple jurisdictions; owning global compliance strategy for both consumer and B2B products; acting as NALA's most senior regulatory leader with FCA, NBB, FinCEN, and state regulators; scaling US footprint from current licensed states to 30+; building US-resident compliance presence for high-volume states; owning enterprise risk management and steering the Risk Committee; leading M&A compliance activity including in-flight regulated acquisitions; building and hiring a high-performing compliance team; leading compliance input into new products, corridors, and partnerships; managing regulatory examinations and audit cycles; building group risk and compliance frameworks including enterprise risk management systems and board-level governance; creating executive-level reporting on regulatory risk and compliance priorities; and making strategic decisions on when to enable, challenge, or stop initiatives while defending those decisions to regulators, boards, and acquirers. This is a role where compliance is positioned as a growth enabler and competitive advantage, not a blocker function. You will be both guardian of the license to operate and a strategic partner helping the business find compliant ways to deliver innovative financial products in frontier markets.
