San Francisco Compute Company is building a liquid market for GPU offtake contracts—a fintech infrastructure play addressing a critical gap in AI compute financing. The company enables companies to buy and sell GPU cluster contracts, mitigating the risk of long-term fixed-price commitments that currently lock in customers and limit access to compute resources for smaller players.
As General Counsel, you will be the company's chief legal officer, responsible for developing and executing the legal strategy aligned with business objectives. Key responsibilities include:
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial, regulatory, and data privacy laws, including AI sales restrictions, AML/KYC requirements, potential future CFTC regulation, and GDPR.
• Advise on corporate governance, fundraising, and investor relations, including equity and debt financing transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts across partnerships, vendor agreements, licensing deals, and customer arrangements.
• Provide legal counsel on product development to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate legal risk.
• Manage risk and crisis response, including litigation, regulatory inquiries, and disputes.
• Lead interactions with regulatory bodies and stay ahead of emerging laws affecting fintech and AI infrastructure.
• Oversee intellectual property protection, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
• Develop and implement policies, training, and best practices to maintain legal and ethical integrity.
• Manage external counsel relationships and legal budgets efficiently.
This is a foundational role at a venture-backed company operating at the intersection of fintech, AI infrastructure, and emerging regulatory frameworks. You'll work directly with founders and leadership to navigate complex legal challenges in a rapidly evolving space.
