Moritz is an AI-native law firm backed by Y Combinator, 20VC, and leading founders, combining senior legal talent with proprietary technology to deliver flat-fee, full-service commercial legal support to high-growth companies and enterprises. The firm is scaling rapidly in the US and seeks a General Counsel to join as a founding team member—not merely as legal counsel, but as a core strategic partner shaping product and growth.
In this role, you will act as a lead for commercial work and product strategy, owning commercial legal work end-to-end: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating MSAs, commercial contracts, NDAs, and other core agreements. You will build, test, and refine the US product from a legal perspective, evolving core templates and playbooks that drive adoption. Partnering closely with the founding team, you will design scalable legal workflows and provide strategic guidance on US commercial and corporate matters as the company scales.
You bring 5–8 years of experience at a leading law firm serving technology companies (BigLaw) or in-house at a major tech company or high-growth startup. You are an expert in commercial law with deep experience drafting and negotiating contracts and MSAs. You hold a JD and an active license to practice law in NYC or SF (non-negotiable). You are based in San Francisco or New York, possess an entrepreneurial mindset, and are genuinely excited about building something new. You have a genuine interest in innovation, AI, and legal tech, and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
Compensation: $180K–$250K plus equity (0.10%–0.50%).
