Vinyl Equity is building next-generation capital-markets infrastructure, starting with a modern, digital-native transfer agent for public companies. The platform replaces slow, manual processes with secure, automated workflows—delivering the first API-driven, real-time infrastructure for public companies. Backed by Index Ventures, Spark Capital, and Infinity Ventures, the team includes veterans from NYSE, Equiniti, Computershare, and AngelList.
You will own the Data Products function end-to-end across four surfaces: Reporting & Analytics, the Immutable Ledger, Shareholder Intelligence, and Data Governance for Compliance. This is a builder role, not a specifier role. You will work directly with customers on requirements, architect solutions, write production code, lead the team by modeling work, and represent Data Products to executives, the board, and prospects.
Key responsibilities include owning Data Products strategy, roadmap, architecture, and shipping across all four surfaces; leading the data engineering team through example and hands-on contribution; gathering customer requirements directly from prospects and paying issuers; scaling Shareholder Intelligence from v1 into a commercially significant product; architecting real-time reporting as a customer-facing differentiator; shipping agent-ready API access, MCP server support, and natural-language query capabilities; owning the Immutable Ledger as a trust anchor across products; building Data Governance for Compliance surfaces including lineage, retention, and PII classification; owning Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning for the data platform; partnering with Product Manager on issuer onboarding and data ingestion; representing Data Products in customer, board, and architecture conversations; and defining and tracking success metrics across adoption, engagement, latency, and unit economics.
Required qualifications include 8+ years building production software in data-intensive environments; substantial end-to-end ownership (founder, founding engineer, principal engineer, tech lead); currently hands-on shipping production code; architecting relational data warehouse systems with focus on query performance, schema design, and real-time sync; track record scaling early-stage data products into commercially significant lines; strong analytics workflows knowledge (dashboards, reports, exports, embedded analytics); data governance practices including lineage, retention, PII classification, and access controls; hands-on experience with AI/ML tools in a product or operational setting; leading by example with small teams that punch above their weight; strong written communication for architecture documents, playbooks, and board updates; and direct customer fluency with ability to translate problems into architecture.
Nice-to-haves include founder or founding-engineer experience; exposure to capital markets, transfer agency, or securities settlement; experience launching shareholder intelligence or financial-intelligence products; real-time data infrastructure experience (CDC, streaming, sub-second reporting); immutable-ledger or compliance-anchored data systems background; customer-facing API products or natural-language data-query experience; and product experience in regulated environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
