Counsel Health is an AI-native medical group founded in 2023 with $35M+ in funding from top-tier VCs (a16z, Google Ventures, Pear VC). The company's mission is to multiply global healthcare capacity by building personalized, AI-enabled healthcare delivery at scale. The founding team combines deep expertise from Harvard, MIT, Google, DeepMind, and leading healthcare institutions.
As a Founding Data Analyst on the FinOps team, you'll build the data foundation powering Counsel's growth from the ground up. This is a high-impact, early-stage role with broad exposure across the entire organization. You'll report directly to the SVP of Finance & Operations and partner closely with Commercial/GTM, Finance, Clinical Operations, and broader Operations teams.
Key responsibilities include: building and maintaining the core data infrastructure and pipelines; supporting data needs across all functions (product metrics, client reporting, financial and operating metrics); creating the Operating Scorecard and executive dashboards for company-wide visibility; validating pipelines and metric definitions with the Analytics Engineer; transforming messy datasets into actionable insights; and adopting AI-powered tools to streamline FinOps workflows.
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (CS, statistics, applied math, or similar) with 3-5 years of experience in data, analytics, or finance/ops roles. Strong SQL and Python (or equivalent) proficiency is required, along with comfort working with real, messy data and a genuine curiosity about AI tools. Executive presence and cross-functional communication skills are essential for representing senior leaders in discussions across the organization.
Bonus qualifications include experience with dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, or BigQuery; healthcare or healthtech background; and a track record of ramping quickly into new tools. The role offers competitive salary, equity, comprehensive benefits, and significant opportunities for ownership and professional growth within a rapidly scaling startup at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare.
