OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead complex end-to-end deployments of frontier AI models in production with strategic customers. This role bridges customer delivery and core platform development, requiring ownership across discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout. You will own technical delivery across multiple deployments from prototype to stable production, building full-stack systems that deliver measurable customer value. Success is measured through production adoption, workflow impact, and eval-driven feedback that informs product and model roadmaps. You'll embed closely with customer engineering and domain teams, understanding their needs and guiding adoption of deployed systems. Key responsibilities include scoping work and sequencing delivery, making trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality, contributing directly to code when needed, and codifying working patterns into reusable tools and playbooks. You'll share field feedback with Research and Product teams to help them understand where models succeed and where improvements are needed. Required qualifications: 6+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work; professional fluency in both Spanish and English (required to support Spanish-speaking customers); experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments; production-grade coding across frontend and backend using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks; experience building or deploying LLM-powered or generative model systems with understanding of how model behavior affects product experience. You should excel at simplifying complexity, making fast sound decisions under pressure, communicating clearly with engineers and stakeholders, spotting risks early, and maintaining calm judgment when stakes are high. Based in Madrid with a hybrid work model of 3 days in office per week. Relocation assistance offered. Travel up to 50% required. You'll work closely with Product, Research, Partnerships, GRC, Security, and GTM teams.
