OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems, operating at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development. In this role, you will lead complex end-to-end deployments of frontier AI models in production alongside OpenAI's most strategic customers. You own the full lifecycle: discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout, working directly with customer engineering and domain teams. Key responsibilities include: - Owning technical delivery across multiple deployments from prototype to stable production - Building full-stack systems that deliver measurable customer value and generate eval-driven feedback - Embedding closely with customer teams to understand needs and guide adoption - Scoping work, sequencing delivery, and removing blockers early - Making trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality while protecting delivery timelines - Contributing directly to code when progress or clarity requires it - Codifying working patterns into tools, playbooks, and reusable building blocks - Sharing field feedback that informs Research and Product roadmaps - Maintaining team momentum through clarity and follow-through You bring 6+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work. Professional fluency in both Spanish and English is required, as this role supports Spanish-speaking customers. You have scoped and delivered complex systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and write production-grade code across frontend and backend (Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks). Experience building or deploying LLM-powered or generative AI systems is essential, with understanding of how model behavior affects product experience. You simplify complexity, make sound decisions under pressure, communicate clearly across engineers/product/customers, spot risks early, and model calm judgment when stakes are high. The role is based in London with a hybrid work model (3 days in office per week). Up to 50% travel is required. Relocation assistance is offered.
