Cyvl is a Physical AI company building sensors, computer vision, and AI infrastructure for municipal and city management. The company's Infrastructure Intelligence Platform helps 500+ cities and towns manage roads, bridges, and sidewalks by providing real-time data on physical infrastructure condition and location. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will embed with Cyvl's largest city and agency customers, starting in New York City, to make the platform indispensable to their operations. You will own key city accounts through onboarding, training, and ongoing enablement across field operations, technical teams, IT, and agency leadership. Your responsibilities include configuring the platform against real agency data, prototyping custom outputs and integrations using Claude Code and Cyvl's API, and identifying the next problems the company can solve for customers. This is a strategic growth role that combines implementation and account expansion. You will surface budget cycles, RFPs, and unmet needs to support proposals and renewals with technical depth. You will build durable adoption so Cyvl's value doesn't depend on a single champion. You will also develop the Forward Deployed Engineer playbook—onboarding sequences, integration patterns, expansion triggers, and ROI frameworks—that scales to new cities across the US. The role is based in New York City or San Francisco, with regular on-site time with customers and periodic travel to the Boston-area headquarters for key moments like onboarding, kick-offs, and milestones. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years in a client-facing technical role (solutions engineering, technical account management, implementation, or similar), ideally at a B2B SaaS company - Experience managing enterprise accounts with many stakeholders, long cycles, and real organizational complexity - Hands-on proficiency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to build working custom outputs, not just specify them - Fluency in SaaS and API concepts, and comfort with IT conversations on SSO, integrations, and data access - Credibility in conversations with field operations leads, city IT teams, or agency commissioners - Based in, or willing to relocate to, New York City or San Francisco NICE TO HAVE: - Government or municipal client experience, including procurement and budget cycles - GIS, geospatial, LiDAR, or infrastructure asset management experience - Track record of expanding accounts, not just retaining them - Appetite to build and lead a team as the FDE function grows
