Antithesis is building a platform to redefine how modern distributed systems are tested and released, helping engineering teams ensure rock-solid reliability and scalable performance. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll embed directly with customers to understand their pain points in shipping reliable software and help shape the next generation of the platform. Your role combines customer-facing technical work with product development. You'll help customers integrate their systems into the Antithesis platform, ensure it catches the bugs that matter most to them, and guide them through debugging and deployment workflows. You'll work to fold Antithesis into their CI pipelines, code review processes, and development practices, enabling them to ship changes faster with confidence. The second half of the role is equally important: you'll identify friction points—slow processes, manual steps, missing capabilities—and work with the platform engineering team to prototype solutions. This might be a sharper bug-detection algorithm, improved debugging workflows, or new agent capabilities. You'll validate these improvements back with customers to ensure they solve real problems. You'll need deep experience building or operating serious systems software where correctness is critical and failures are subtle. You should understand how systems break under concurrency, faults, and load in ways traditional tests miss. Prior customer-facing engineering experience is essential—you've been in the room when something breaks and you're the one helping fix it. You're comfortable reading unfamiliar codebases, instrumenting them, writing tests, and debugging novel problems. You communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and prefer fixing rough edges rather than working around them. Bonus experience includes fuzzing, property-based testing, chaos engineering, or building systems like fintech platforms, databases, blockchain infrastructure, event streaming, or cloud infrastructure. The role requires five days per week in office (DC, London, or SF) with occasional customer travel.
