Xcimer Energy is seeking a Fluids and Auxiliaries Operations Lead to oversee the maintenance and operations of fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic systems for the Phoenix superlaser facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring reliable availability and functionality of critical systems to support scheduled experiments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute maintenance and operations strategies for fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic components of Phoenix, ensuring systems are reliably available and functional for experiments on schedule.
- Create and manage the fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic operations schedule for experiments, maintenance, and system upgrades in coordination with other leads, shot directors, and program managers.
- Lead engineers and technicians to complete required work safely, correctly, and on time.
- Conduct post-experiment data reviews to confirm proper system function and identify any additional system work needed before the next experiments.
- Troubleshoot anomalies and issues in the superlaser's fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic systems.
- Develop operational infrastructure including operating limits, operating procedures, preventative maintenance requirements, and related documentation.
This role requires managing a team while maintaining deep technical expertise in complex, high-risk systems. The position involves both scheduled shift work and on-call availability during critical operational periods.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in technical operations, maintenance, and testing of fluids, vacuum, and cryogenic systems
- Demonstrated experience leading teams to maintain and operate complex, high-risk systems
- U.S. citizenship, national status, permanent residency (current Green Card), or lawful admission as a refugee/asylee
- Willingness to work set 8-hour shifts with fixed start/stop times and availability for overtime during critical periods
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in laser engineering (e.g., B.S. in Electrical Engineering with laser engineering concentration, or B.S. in Photonics with laser systems focus)
- Working knowledge of control systems and mechanical/pneumatic equipment
