Blend Labs (NYSE: BLND) is a cloud banking platform used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and 330+ financial services firms to enable digital lending and customer acquisition. The company processes over $5 billion in loans daily.
This role owns Blend's external financial reporting function and serves as the primary technical accounting resource for a public company. Reporting to the Head of Accounting and working closely with the Corporate Controller, the Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Lead will drive the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and related financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
Key responsibilities include: serving as subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements; researching and drafting technical accounting memos for complex transactions; monitoring and implementing new accounting pronouncements; owning equity accounting under ASC 718 (stock-based compensation including RSUs and PRSUs); owning lease accounting under ASC 842; supporting equity administration and participant-level transactions; evaluating and enhancing financial reporting processes, controls, and systems; driving improvements in close timelines and reporting automation; leading use of Workiva and related finance platforms; serving as primary contact for external auditors; ensuring SOX compliance and internal controls; and building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing financial reporting team including onshore and offshore resources.
The role requires establishing clear expectations, providing coaching, and developing future leaders. Cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, investor relations, legal, tax, HR, and operations is essential. The Lead will help communicate the business story accurately through disclosures and prepare the function for increasing complexity as the business scales.
