Fireworks is a Series D AI infrastructure platform ($17.5B valuation) that enables companies to build, train, and serve AI models tailored to their data and workflows. Founded by the PyTorch team and backed by AMD, NVIDIA, Sequoia, Benchmark, and others, Fireworks powers production AI across text, image, embedding, audio, and multimodal workloads. You will own and scale Fireworks' technical accounting and financial reporting function as the business grows rapidly. This role manages the technical accounting positions, financial statements, and documentation for complex areas including leases and data center arrangements, equity, revenue recognition, strategic partnerships, and hardware/compute costs. You will build the processes, documentation, and control matrices needed to support a high-growth AI infrastructure business. Key responsibilities include: - Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles - Owning technical accounting research and memo documentation for revenue (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), equity, partnerships, and infrastructure arrangements - Managing lease accounting end-to-end, including new lease setup, modifications, disclosures, and reconciliations - Evaluating infrastructure and compute-related spend (cloud hosting, GPU capacity, data center costs, prepaid commitments, vendor accruals) - Accounting for strategic partnerships, reseller, and marketplace arrangements - Owning equity and share-based payments accounting - Building end-to-end process flowcharts, narratives, and risk-and-control matrices - Supporting SOX-ready control design and implementation - Monitoring new accounting pronouncements and leading adoption planning - Serving as primary contact for external auditors on technical accounting - Developing and maintaining accounting policies - Partnering with Engineering and Data teams on operational data accuracy - Identifying automation opportunities using ERP, SQL, and AI-enabled processes - Supporting tax, insurance, compliance, and due diligence projects You will partner closely with Accounting Operations, FP&A, Legal, Tax, Infrastructure, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and Business Development. Success in the first 6–12 months means deepening technical accounting documentation, scaling lease accounting alongside GPU/data center growth, keeping equity accounting audit-ready, becoming the go-to partner for non-standard arrangements before terms finalize, bringing clarity to hardware/compute cost treatment, documenting financial reporting cycles end-to-end, elevating quarterly/annual reporting packages, and building a reporting environment that absorbs rapid growth without proportional manual effort increase. REQUIREMENTS: - 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including technical accounting and external reporting; public accounting background preferred - Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on ownership of ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718; familiarity with ASC 808 and ASC 350-40 a plus - Experience analyzing non-standard commercial arrangements and partnership/revenue share structures - Demonstrated ability to write clear, well-reasoned technical accounting memos - Experience documenting processes through flowcharts, narratives, and control matrices - Experience preparing financial statements and footnote disclosures - Experience developing and improving accounting and reporting processes in fast-growing organizations - Experience supporting external audits and preparing high-quality accounting documentation - Strong systems orientation, including ERP experience (NetSuite preferred) and comfort with large datasets - Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience partnering with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Engineering, Revenue Operations, and business teams on transactions - Comfortable working in environments with rapidly evolving systems and changing business requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred
