Modulr is a fast-growing embedded payments platform backed by PayPal Ventures and FIS Ventures, building digital payment services for businesses. The company operates as a modern payments account provider with API-first infrastructure, enabling customers to automate payments, reconciliation, and account management in real time. You will join the Transaction Monitoring team within Financial Crime Operations, reporting to the Transaction Monitoring Team Manager. This role is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance and mitigating money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and sanctions risks. Key responsibilities include: - Reviewing and triaging automated transaction monitoring alerts to assess alignment with customer profiles, using risk-based analysis to escalate or close cases - Conducting deep-dive investigations into flagged transactions, including historical account analysis, watchlist cross-referencing, and geographic/typology risk evaluation - Drafting and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Unusual Transaction Reports (UTRs) with the Financial Intelligence Unit and other regulatory bodies within required timescales - Identifying system and process trends, reporting false positives, and updating compliance teams on emerging financial crime typologies - Owning quality control of your own cases, ensuring accuracy and completeness while meeting internal QC benchmarks - Collaborating with Screening, Fraud, Complex Investigations, and CDD/Onboarding teams to support risk assessments and process alignment You bring experience in financial crime within a regulated environment (payments, banking, or fintech). You are detail-oriented, comfortable with structured processes under time pressure, and take ownership of your work including quality control and SLA adherence. You have strong analytical skills to spot patterns and anomalies, communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, and are proactive about process improvement and strengthening financial crime controls.
