Semble is a healthcare software company on a mission to enable health professionals to amplify their impact through powerful, innovative clinical systems used by thousands of clinicians. The company is Series C+ backed and operates across UK and French entities.
As Financial Controller, you will own the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of Semble's financial reporting across both jurisdictions. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will build and manage a robust, scalable finance operation capable of supporting a high-growth, internationally expanding business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and developing the financial operation to be robust, reliable, and audit-ready, producing high-integrity outputs consistently while evolving with technology and business needs
- Leading and owning the monthly close process, delivering accurate and timely management accounts, investor reporting, and maintaining an appropriate internal control environment for a Series C+ company
- Managing day-to-day treasury activities and controls
- Leading compliance activities across UK and France, including statutory accounts, audits, VAT, taxes, and company secretarial duties, working with external auditors and advisers
- Identifying opportunities to automate and simplify finance processes using AI-enabled tools, with focus on revenue, billing, deferred revenue, SaaS-related activity, AR, and AP
- Assisting with management of the company ESOP and other administrative/company secretarial duties
- Managing one direct report while working closely with the CFO and FP&A team to ensure financial outputs support planning and decision-making
The role is hybrid, based primarily in London or Paris with flexibility to work remotely a few days per month. Semble emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
REQUIREMENTS:
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Operations leader, or similar role, with reporting experience under UK GAAP FRS102 or IFRS
- Proven experience in B2B SaaS, software, technology, or subscription-based business, preferably in high-growth VC/PE-backed companies
- Good understanding of AI and how it can be implemented for improvements and efficiencies within financial operations
- Experience working across multiple legal entities with understanding of consolidations
- French language is a strong bonus, as is knowledge of local administrative compliance and procedures in France
- Experience handling professional external relationships with auditors and tax advisors, and managing new and complex matters
- Ability to work accurately and independently with strong problem-solving skills, collaborative and pragmatic approach
- Clear communication and stakeholder management skills with gravitas to engage senior stakeholders
- Experience with Stripe and HubSpot is nice to have but not essential
- Candidates must be located in the UK or France
