Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale for the commercial space industry, combining software, vertical integration, and hardware design. The company has raised over $500M in funding and operates from a Playa Vista office. This Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst role is a high-impact, cross-functional position centered on headcount planning and serving as the dedicated finance business partner to the Engineering and R&D organization. You will report to the Finance team and work closely with senior Engineering leadership to drive planning, reporting, and analysis that informs strategic decisions across a fast-moving aerospace and space business. Key responsibilities include: owning headcount planning and modeling across the company with accurate department-level forecasts; serving as the finance business partner to Engineering, providing analysis and financial visibility; contributing to annual budgets, reforecasts, and long-range planning cycles; performing variance analysis to explain budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual differences; assisting with monthly and quarterly executive and management reporting; identifying process improvements to increase FP&A workflow accuracy and efficiency; and supporting purchase order and purchase requisition approvals for multi-million-dollar Engineering projects. Required qualifications: 3–5 years of FP&A, corporate finance, or comparable analytical finance experience; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; strong financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis skills; familiarity with PO/PR approval processes for large projects; ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment; excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; U.S. Person status (required for export-controlled data access). Preferred: familiarity with Engineering/R&D cost structures; space industry or aerospace/defense sector experience; advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
