Alloy River is building agentic applied AI for finance and accounting, fundamentally reimagining how accounting firms operate. The company has raised over $30M from top-tier investors including Portage Ventures, Electric Capital, and angels like Tobi Lütke and Balaji Srinivasan. They acquire accounting firms and run them on their AI-native platform, transforming accounting from a manual, reactive function into a real-time strategic engine.
In this role, you will run month-end close for Alloy River's acquired accounting clients, serving as both an operator and a voice shaping the product roadmap. You'll be responsible for closing the books across multiple clients (some on Alloy River's platform, some on legacy systems), conducting detailed interviews to map and document each client's month-end process into clear, repeatable SOPs, and performing variance analysis to explain financial outcomes. You'll identify inefficiencies in close processes and work directly with the product team to prioritize automation opportunities. Ad hoc client requests and relationship management are part of the role.
You'll report to the Head of Deployment and work in-person daily at the Liberty Village office in Toronto. The role bridges operations and product: your frontline accounting expertise directly informs what the engineering and product teams build next. You don't need to be AI-forward yet—the company will teach you—but you should have strong process improvement instincts and the ability to translate client workflows into actionable product feedback.
Alloy River emphasizes high agency, ownership, and curiosity. The team works in-person every day, believing that proximity drives faster decisions, tighter feedback loops, and deeper trust. If you thrive in a collaborative, in-office environment with smart, ambitious builders, this is a rare opportunity to shape the future of financial infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPA designation (required)
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Hands-on experience running month-end close and variance analysis
- Experience documenting financial processes (SOPs, process maps, close checklists)
- Strong relationship and communication skills; will work directly with clients and firm owners
- Demonstrated drive to improve processes, not just execute them
- High work ethic and ownership mindset
BONUS:
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or Xero
- Bilingual (French)
