Anthropic is seeking a Strategic Finance Manager to lead the "machines" finance function, overseeing financial strategy for the chips and accelerators that power their AI models. This is a key leadership role partnering closely with hardware infrastructure, capacity planning, and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Machines Capacity Economics & Investment: Own the economics of chip and accelerator capacity, including cost per chip-hour and total cost of ownership (TCO) across chip generations. Evaluate capacity offers and hardware commitments with the compute deal team, analyzing pricing across chip types, counterparties, and deal structures. Partner with Capacity Planning and Hardware Engineering on financial analysis that influences machine strategy.
Machines FP&A & Team Leadership: Own the hardware forecast covering delivery volumes by chip type over time, expenses, and cash flows. Build and manage the Machines finance team, setting the operating cadence with central FP&A and Accounting. Serve as the accountable owner for machines FP&A through forecast and close cycles. Coordinate with Accounting, Treasury, and Infrastructure FP&A on accounting treatment and forecast inputs.
Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in strategic finance, FP&A, or capacity/infrastructure finance, with demonstrated experience owning hardware, semiconductor, or hyperscaler capacity economics. Experience managing or mentoring finance talent is expected. Strong analytical skills, judgment in structuring ambiguous problems into clear financial recommendations, and comfort working closely with engineering and commercial teams under deal-timeline pressure are essential. A passion for building safe, transformative AI systems aligns with Anthropic's mission.
