Baselayer is an AI Risk Platform that automates merchant onboarding, underwriting, and fraud prevention for over 20% of US financial institutions. The company prevents billions in merchant fraud and credit risk by combining government data, AI agents, and a network powered by millions of applications. You will join the Operations & Finance team as a Finance & Operations Analyst, reporting directly to the Head of Operations & Finance. This is a highly visible, broad-scoped role that combines FP&A, accounting, business operations, and internal support functions. **FP&A & Reporting:** Track and analyze unit economics and SaaS metrics (ARR, gross margin, NDR, burn multiple). Build and maintain the operating model, budget vs. actuals, and rolling cash forecast. Produce recurring management and board-level reporting on revenue, burn, runway, and departmental spend. Turn ambiguous business questions into clear analysis: what is this costing us, what is driving variance, and what should we do about it. **Business Operations:** Improve and automate the finance stack—billing, invoicing, expense management, and procurement. Own vendor and software spend management, including renewals and contracts. Support compliance and corporate housekeeping (SOC2, penetration testing, business insurance) in partnership with Legal and Compliance. Assist HR and Recruiting with onboarding, new employee support, and general requests. Work with BI tooling to provide insights to internal stakeholders. **Accounting & Month-End Close:** Assist with month-end close end-to-end: journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations. Manage account mapping for credit card payments and billing. Partner with outside accountants and tax advisors on close support, year-end, and compliance filings. **Office & Internal Support:** Keep the office running—supplies, vendors, seating, events, and day-to-day logistics. Serve as first-line internal helpdesk: laptop setup, SaaS provisioning and access, basic IT troubleshooting for new hires and the broader team. Jump on ad-hoc projects wherever the need is greatest. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment, takes pride in both clean reconciliations and unblocking teammates, and wants to build process rather than inherit it. You will see the entire business and help fix operational inefficiencies. **Requirements:** - 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, FP&A, finance, or business operations - Hands-on experience supporting a month-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries - Highly advanced Microsoft Excel (must-have) - Tech savvy and quick to pick up new systems, with a bias toward automating manual work - Exceptional attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy - Willing to get your hands dirty and take on tasks outside a job description **Nice-to-Have:** - Startup experience, ideally at an early-stage company where you built process - Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting system - SQL skills and experience with BI tools (Metabase a plus) - Experience with billing, expense management, or procurement tooling - Proactive, self-directed, comfortable operating without detailed instructions - True Swiss Army knife mentality—prefer owning ten things well over one thing narrowly - Want to be foundational and help build something that lasts
