As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will own a portfolio of B2B and B2C accounts, ranging from straightforward to complex. This is a high-impact role that goes beyond back-office processing: you will work directly with sales, customer service, and finance to solve problems affecting the company's bottom line.
Key responsibilities include:
• Making collection calls and following up on past-due accounts with customers directly
• Owning day-to-day credit evaluation for your portfolio with manager support
• Assessing credit exposure for new and existing customers using D&B reports and other data to inform open-credit-term decisions
• Investigating and resolving disputed accounts receivable in partnership with sales and customer service
• Maintaining current and accurate customer account information in the system
• Processing credit card payments through accounting systems
• Managing dunning and escalating serious delinquency issues appropriately
• Troubleshooting outstanding account issues and driving them to resolution
• Reviewing and approving or holding orders using sound judgment on customer risk
• Applying Lock Box payments and reconciling customer accounts
• Processing customer refunds and maintaining accurate filing records
• Contributing ideas for process improvement
• Providing team coverage for time-off requests and partnering across business units on credit and customer service matters
The role is based in Schaumburg, IL and involves routine sitting, walking, and computer work, with occasional international travel (approximately 1% annually) for team meetings, offsites, trade shows, or conferences.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Credit & Collections (B2B experience strongly preferred)
• Track record managing complex, varied customer portfolios independently
• Strong negotiation and communication skills—ability to hold a firm line on collections while maintaining customer relationships
• Customer-focused mindset paired with attention to detail
• Comfort influencing stakeholders outside your own department
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
• Experience with SAP or NetSuite (preferred)
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
• Analytical skills in Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or SQL
• Experience driving workflow automation or process enhancement
• Hands-on use of AI tools in finance or collections workflows
