The Nuclear Company is a Series A AI-enabled startup pioneering fleet-scale nuclear reactor development through a design-once, build-many model. The company is scaling its Services segment through a buy-and-build acquisition strategy combined with organic growth. The Director of Finance, Services is the segment finance lead responsible for planning, forecasting, contract economics, and deal support for the Services business. This role is embedded with the Services organization as the day-to-day finance partner to segment operating leaders while reporting to the VP, Nuclear Finance, maintaining a clean group finance reporting line. Key responsibilities include: **Business Partnership & P&L Leadership**: Serve as the primary day-to-day finance partner to Services operating leaders and P&L owners, owning the financial narrative. Bring financial rigor to pricing, rate cards, bidding, and margin decisions. Deliver decision-quality analysis on job profitability, unit economics, labor utilization, backlog, and working capital. Run monthly operating review rhythms with Services leadership. **FP&A and Planning**: Own the Services annual operating plan, rolling forecast, and long-range plan, integrating acquired businesses into a single segment operating model that rolls up cleanly to group plans. Establish and track critical KPIs including job margin, utilization, backlog-to-bill, DSO, and working capital. Maintain forecast accuracy standards for executive and board reporting. **Contract Economics & Classification**: Own segment and line-of-business classification at contract inception, working with the Controller's team. Keep rate cards current and defensible, including for related-party engagements. Provide finance perspective on material bids before submission. **Deal Finance & M&A**: Support deal finance for the Services acquisition program including financial diligence, deal models, and integration planning through post-close performance tracking. Partner with Corporate Development and the CAO on opening balance sheets and post-acquisition true-ups. Hold acquired businesses accountable to financial premises. **Executive Reporting**: Deliver segment-grade Services reporting aligned to company operating segment presentation. Prepare Services content for board and executive leadership reviews. **Systems, AI & Scalability**: Build and deploy AI tools and agentic workflows across Services planning, forecasting, and reporting. Scale the function through AI rather than headcount. Partner on standardizing acquired businesses onto TNC's ERP and finance systems. **Team & Organization Building**: Hire, develop, and lead Services finance managers, building bench strength. Establish a finance operating model that absorbs acquisitions without proportional headcount growth. The role requires operating fluently across two worlds: the operational, field-driven rhythm of a labor-intensive services business working closely with P&L owners on jobs, crews, and customers; and group planning and reporting, partnering with the VP of Nuclear Finance, Controller's team, and Corporate FP&A. **Requirements:** - 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP&A leadership and operating or segment finance ownership - Working command of ASC 606 for service contracts: time and materials, cost plus, and fixed price - Experience partnering directly with operational P&L owners and translating operating strategy into financial outcomes - Demonstrated M&A finance exposure: diligence, deal models, or integration - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field **Preferred Experience:** - CPA and/or MBA - Field services, nuclear, utilities, or industrial services experience; comfort with craft labor economics (utilization, per diems, pass-through costs) - Track record of value creation in an acquisitive (buy-and-build) environment - NetSuite or comparable ERP fluency - Hands-on experience deploying AI and automation in core finance processes
