Vesta is rebuilding the mortgage loan origination system (LOS) from the ground up using AI as the core engine to automate lending processes. Founded by early Blend employees, the company has raised $55M from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Ventures. You will be Vesta's first dedicated finance hire, owning the complete financial function during a period of significant growth.
In this role, you will:
- Build and own the financial model, including budgets, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning across revenue, headcount, and spend
- Partner cross-functionally with department leads on budget-to-actuals analysis, headcount planning, and spend reviews
- Own the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals to deliver accurate financials on a predictable timeline
- Maintain GAAP-compliant books and partner with outside accountants and auditors as the company scales
- Run AP, AR, and cash operations, including vendor payments, customer invoicing, and day-to-day cash flow monitoring
- Evaluate and implement finance tooling to scale beyond spreadsheets, and build documented processes for close, forecasting, and reporting
This is a generalist finance role where you'll be equally comfortable closing the books and building models for the board. You understand that clean, timely financials enable fast decision-making and take pride in a close process that runs smoothly. You're energized by both unit economics and forecasting as well as account reconciliation, viewing accounting and FP&A as two halves of the same job.
The company offers robust medical, vision, and dental coverage (approximately 100% of employee premiums covered), 401(k) plan, 16 weeks fully paid parental leave for all new parents, remote-first culture with a hub in San Francisco, generous work-from-anywhere and wellness benefits, monthly Doordash benefits, flexible time off, and company offsites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Finance generalist background with experience in both accounting and FP&A
- Ability to close books and build financial models
- Understanding of GAAP compliance
- Experience with AP, AR, and cash operations
BONUS POINTS:
- Experience at a high-growth, venture-backed SaaS company
- Fluency with modern finance tooling (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or comparable) and BI/spreadsheet tools
- Experience supporting a fundraise or board reporting directly
- Mortgage, fintech, or B2B SaaS experience
