Nomos is building a full-stack power company to unlock energy flexibility by connecting millions of homes to Europe's energy markets. The company operates at the intersection of energy and finance, addressing Europe's electricity cost competitiveness through solar and grid flexibility solutions.
In this role, you will build and run the finance function from the ground up, taking full responsibility for liquidity management and capital stewardship. Your responsibilities include:
**Core Responsibilities:**
- Plan and manage liquidity across electricity trading, household payments, and company operations
- Define and enforce financial controls, spending approvals, and money movement policies
- Run accounting, payroll, and month-end close processes with reliable reporting for founders and investors
- Build the finance function from scratch, deciding what to run internally, where to outsource, and what to automate
- Work with engineering to build scalable processes that maintain accuracy as transaction volumes grow
- Understand capital constraints, anticipate future funding needs, and challenge spending that lacks clear justification
- As Nomos scales, explore how financial products could strengthen the energy offering
**What Makes This Interesting:**
You'll have the opportunity to shape a European category leader in one of the world's largest industries while helping solve Europe's energy crisis. As an early team member, you'll share in the company's financial upside and learn from exceptional talent including IMO and IOI medalists, former founders, and Olympic athletes.
**Requirements:**
- Prior experience running finance or demonstrated depth and judgment to build a finance function from scratch
- Ability to trace numbers back to their source and challenge underlying assumptions
- Meticulous attention to detail; comfort with reconciliation and identifying discrepancies
- Fluency in both German and English (accounting, payroll, and tax operations occur in German)
- Comfort with automation and AI tools to improve reliability and efficiency
- Ownership mentality: treat company capital as your own and think through financial implications before new products or partnerships launch
