Formlabs is seeking a Field Service Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact for the UK and Ireland region. This is a hands-on role supporting the company's 3D printing technology, which powers innovation at over 50,000 industry leaders including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. You will manage the complete customer lifecycle on-site: equipment installation, commissioning, calibration, and comprehensive user training. You will conduct structured training sessions teaching customers how to operate machinery, utilize software, and perform basic maintenance. You will also deliver live product demonstrations to build customer confidence. Break-fix and maintenance responsibilities include rapid-response deployment for urgent repairs, preventative maintenance scheduling (targeting 90-day service windows for warranted customers), and troubleshooting electromechanical issues to achieve single-visit resolutions and minimize downtime. Logistics and reporting duties involve executing high-volume activity, independently managing complex travel schedules (flights, trains, hotels, rental cars), submitting expenses on time, and maintaining meticulous records of installations, training, and repairs in Salesforce. This role requires 80%+ travel. The company pays for travel time, and the position is eligible for overtime. You will be based in the London/Manchester/Dublin hub region. REQUIREMENTS: - Based in London, Manchester, or Dublin (highly preferred) - Energized by travel; willing to be on the road 80%+ of the time - Strong technical background in electromechanical/hardware systems - Strong soft skills for teaching and customer interaction - English fluency (C1-C2 level); ability to explain complex technical concepts simply and effectively - Valid driver's license (Category B) BONUS SKILLS: - Fluency in German or French - Passion for 3D printing and emerging technologies - Experience in rapidly-growing startup environments
