Base Power is rebuilding America's electrical grid through distributed battery networks. The Field Reliability Technician role sits at the heart of their hardware quality feedback loop, analyzing field-returned equipment to identify failure modes and drive product improvements.
You will receive hardware that has failed in the field, conduct systematic testing and root cause analysis, and communicate findings to the engineering team. Your work directly influences design changes, firmware updates, and manufacturing line improvements for products already deployed in thousands of homes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing hands-on hardware testing and failure analysis on returned equipment
- Building and maintaining test tooling and processes to accelerate triage and reliability
- Owning lab safety, cleanliness, and organization standards
- Tracking testing throughput and results, flagging quality issues to engineers with full context for prioritization
- Collaborating with design, firmware, and manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement
This is a fast-paced lab role in a startup environment where priorities evolve quickly. You'll work in-person at Base's Austin headquarters as part of a tight Hardware Reliability and Test team that conducts mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing at component through system levels.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; basic IT troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers, vendors, and office staff
- Strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and task management
