Modal is building a new infrastructure layer for AI—a serverless cloud platform for AI, data, and compute-intensive applications. The company recently raised $355M in Series C funding at a $4.65B valuation and has crossed $300M+ ARR. Customers include Ramp, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. You will build and run field marketing programs that turn Modal's target accounts into active customers. This is a hands-on role reporting to the Sales leadership, working directly with Account Executives to plan regional campaigns, run events for engineers and technical leaders, and measure program impact on pipeline and revenue. Key responsibilities: - Act as a strategic partner to Sales, aligning field programs with sales priorities and helping AEs create and accelerate pipeline in their territories. - Develop and execute account-based programs for named accounts, identifying key stakeholders and designing the right mix of touchpoints. - Evaluate and own conference sponsorships and industry events—deciding which are worth investing in, who attends, and whether to return. - Plan and host high-touch events (executive dinners, roundtables, technical workshops) in partnership with AEs. - Manage pre- and post-event execution: targeted invitations, meeting booking, and timely follow-up. - Build co-marketing programs with VCs, accelerators, and ecosystem partners to reach their portfolio companies. - Track and report on program performance (meetings booked, account engagement, sourced and influenced pipeline) and use results to inform future investment. - Own the VIP experience at Modal's flagship annual conference, Runtime. - Build repeatable processes and playbooks as the team grows. Requirements: - Proven track record running field programs at a technical company with specific examples and clear outcomes. - Direct experience working with Account Executives and comfort sharing metrics with sales teams. - Strong judgment about sponsorship ROI; ability to distinguish high-performing from underperforming investments. Experience in AI or developer tools preferred. - Organized and self-directed; capable of managing multiple events, partners, and vendors simultaneously. - Experience producing events across formats: small executive dinners, large conference sponsorships, and brand events. - Strong attention to detail and high standards for event quality and touchpoint execution. - Comfort with data and reporting, including CRM, attribution, and pipeline analysis. - Familiarity with ABM, intent data, and marketing automation tools. - Experience building AI into marketing workflows (account research, audience development, event operations, reporting). Nice-to-have: - Background at an AI, developer tools, or cloud infrastructure company. - Experience marketing to technical audiences (engineers, ML teams, technical executives). - Experience bridging product-led and sales-assisted growth models. - Existing relationships with Bay Area VCs, accelerators, or AI communities.
