Mujin is seeking an FA (Factory Automation) Strategy Consultant to drive structural reform and industrial innovation in manufacturing. The role bridges production floor expertise with executive-level strategy, addressing critical business challenges in manufacturing: labor shortages, rising material and labor costs, skill succession, and digital transformation gaps.
As an FA Strategy Consultant, you will partner with manufacturing clients to transform production operations. Working from a "genba" (on-site) perspective, you will conduct factory and warehouse assessments, conduct stakeholder interviews, and perform data analysis to identify root causes of operational challenges. You will then develop medium- to long-term strategies, KPIs, investment plans, smart factory concepts, and logistics automation roadmaps from a business and management perspective.
Critically, your role extends beyond strategy recommendations. You will drive end-to-end implementation: defining requirements for operations, equipment, and IT systems; conducting proofs of concept; managing projects; and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure Physical AI solutions operate effectively in the field and deliver measurable results.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interviewing management, business leaders, factory directors, production technicians, manufacturing, logistics, and IT teams
- Analyzing medium-term business plans, production schedules, capital investment plans, and cost structures
- Designing smart factory master plans
- Optimizing factory, warehouse, and logistics facility consolidation and placement
- Developing future-state concepts for production lines, internal logistics, storage, and material handling
- Designing labor reduction and automation roadmaps with KPI frameworks
- Creating investment plans (equipment, personnel, IT) with ROI projections
- Supporting automation and Physical AI implementation
You will work across multiple companies and industries, gaining comparative insights that a single-company role cannot provide. The position offers progression from field-level analysis and automation design toward broader roles: consultant, project manager, manager, domain expert, business unit leader, new business development, product/service strategy, or international projects.
Mujin is a robotics and industrial automation company using proprietary control technology (Mujin MI) to revolutionize supply chains globally. The company recently launched a consulting division (2024) to complement its hardware and software offerings, positioning itself as a "prime vendor" in the ~1 trillion-dollar automation market.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Manufacturing operations: production technology, production planning, process design, industrial engineering (IE), equipment technology, or manufacturing technology
- Factory or internal logistics: improvement or automation experience
- Production optimization: productivity improvement, labor reduction, cost reduction, or equipment utilization enhancement
- Smart factory, manufacturing DX, or supply chain management: planning and execution experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience establishing new factories, consolidating/closing facilities, redesigning layouts, or launching production lines
- Production simulation, material flow analysis, labor analysis, or ROI calculation
- Capital investment planning, medium- to long-term production strategy, or facility strategy development
- Experience presenting to and reporting to factory directors, business leaders, division heads, or executives
