Radiant is a nuclear technology startup based in El Segundo, CA, developing portable, mass-produced nuclear microreactors (Kaleidos: 1-megawatt, fail-safe units transportable anywhere and operable for up to 5 years without refueling). The company aims to replace diesel generators for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases, with first reactor testing at Idaho National Laboratory and customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
The Export Controls Specialist will support Radiant's international compliance, export controls, and intellectual property strategy as the company brings advanced nuclear technologies to global markets. This role blends legal, regulatory, and technical leadership, ensuring innovations meet safety, compliance, and strategic protection standards across international jurisdictions.
Key responsibilities include: leading commodity classification of Radiant products; providing guidance to Supply Chain and Engineering teams on export control and sanctions considerations during procurement; reviewing internal documents and media for export control and IP considerations; and managing export control licensing applications and reporting.
Required qualifications: 2–5 years in export controls, trade compliance, sanctions, or regulatory compliance; experience with ITAR and EAR classifications and licensing; experience developing and implementing Technology Control Plans.
Desired qualifications include prior nuclear industry, national lab, or federal government experience; familiarity with Part 810 and Part 110 classifications; OFAC compliance implementation; and guidance on federal contracting provisions (DFARS, Section 1260H).
The role requires 100% onsite work at El Segundo headquarters and willingness to work extended hours and weekends.
