Recursion Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage TechBio company, is seeking an Executive Director of Asset Strategy Leadership to drive strategic positioning of its clinical asset pipeline in oncology and immunology/inflammation. You will translate scientific complexity and proprietary Recursion OS/ClinTech computational insights into strategic clarity, ensuring assets advance with competitive differentiation and urgency for patient benefit.
In this role, you will define and drive asset strategy for small molecule clinical programs by integrating competitive positioning, mechanistic differentiation, biomarker strategy, and patient segmentation to inform go/no-go and prioritization decisions. You will translate Recursion OS and ClinTech insights into strategic advantages, ensuring proprietary data and computational approaches maximize portfolio advancement. You will develop and pressure-test competitive narratives for each asset, building evidence bases that inform leadership decisions, partnerships, and investor communications.
You will partner with functional leaders across clinical development, business development, finance, and platform teams to ensure resource allocation reflects strategic conviction and supports the most impactful programs. You will operate as a senior strategic partner to leaders in Clinical Development, Discovery, ClinTech, Platform, and BD, working across the entire asset portfolio. The Portfolio Team is execution-minded, analytically rigorous, and fluent in both science and AI, responsible for industrializing innovative science to advance medicines that matter.
This is a remote position based in the United States with required periodic travel. Recursion is a NASDAQ-listed clinical-stage company with platform infrastructure anchored in Salt Lake City and Milton Park (Oxfordshire), with additional offices in New York, Montréal, and London.
**Requirements:**
- PhD in life sciences or related scientific discipline with deep expertise in drug discovery and development (required)
- 10+ years of biotech/pharma experience with proven track record of asset-level strategic leadership, advancing programs through clinical stage-gates with demonstrable impact on portfolio value
- Deep expertise in development of small molecule therapeutics for oncology and immunology/inflammation (required); expertise in rare disease is a bonus
- Experience leveraging computational approaches and data-driven platforms to sharpen asset strategy and clinical decision-making
- Proven ability to build and articulate strategic and competitive case for clinical assets, integrating mechanistic differentiation, competitive dynamics, regulatory and market considerations
- Strong financial acumen; able to engage credibly on cross-functional resourcing, asset valuation, and portfolio trade-offs
- Exceptional executive presence; able to synthesize complexity into clear, conviction-led recommendations and present with confidence to senior leadership and external partners
