Kaizen Labs is a government technology company founded in 2022 that replaces legacy federal systems with modern software. The company has grown 35x this year and serves dozens of federal agencies, with software reaching over 100 million Americans. Kaizen has raised $35 million from NEA, a16z, Accel, 776, and Carpenter Capital. This is Kaizen's first dedicated events hire and a build role. You will own the complete events strategy and execution, building from scratch rather than inheriting an existing program. The role centers on the federal conference circuit—Washington-area shows and agency-facing conferences where federal buyers gather—plus the field motion, executive dinners, and briefings surrounding them. State and municipal events are secondary to the federal calendar. Events at Kaizen are measured as a growth function against pipeline and qualified meetings, not attendance. Your buyers are public servants, and how Kaizen shows up reflects the quality of the product. You will work across both sides of the political aisle without ideology screening. Key responsibilities include: owning the annual events calendar anchored to the federal buying year; evaluating and negotiating conference sponsorships and booth placement; designing physical presence and collateral that match product caliber; running field motion alongside sales (account targeting, pre-event outreach, on-site meeting scheduling, follow-up); owning satellite programs (executive dinners, agency roundtables, closed-door briefings); landing Kaizen leadership on stage and in content; scoping and building Kaizen-hosted events; managing budget and reporting tied to pipeline and cost per meeting; and navigating federal ethics rules around gifts and hospitality. You will have high autonomy in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment. You are expected to self-generate the agenda, manage vendors and production partners by directing output, and be comfortable with operational detail (shipping, badge scans, AV, staffing, seating charts). You must be credible with senior government audiences and AI-proficient in daily workflows. The role is hybrid based in NYC HQ or DC office. Candidates must reside in New York or DC, or be able to commute to one of these offices at least three times per week (Tuesdays–Thursdays). REQUIREMENTS: - 4–10 years in events, experiential marketing, or field marketing with direct ownership of strategy and budget (not execution alone) - Demonstrated experience owning a conference circuit: which shows to commit to, sponsorship valuation, booth building, and week-to-week execution - Experience running events for federal or public sector buyers is a significant advantage, as are relationships with Washington venues, producers, and association organizers - Experience partnering with sales on targeting and follow-up, and comfort being measured against pipeline - Experience producing owned events (dinners, roundtables, summits) alongside conference work - Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable drafting invitations, event briefs, run-of-show documents, and executive prep for senior audiences - Sound judgment under time pressure and public visibility
