Nectar Social is an AI-native social operating system for commerce, founded by ex-Meta product and engineering leaders and backed by $30M+ in funding from GV and True Ventures. The company works with brands like Oura Health, Caraway, e.l.f. Cosmetics, Kosas, and OLIPOP to enable authentic community-driven commerce.
You will own the founding West Coast events program for Nectar Social, building it from the ground up across the Bay Area and Los Angeles with full autonomy and no existing playbook. This is a dual-market role where you'll split time between Palo Alto (tech founders, investors, B2B operators) and Los Angeles (consumer brands, creators, agencies).
EVENTS RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and execute end-to-end West Coast event calendar: customer dinners, executive roundtables, happy hours, creator meetups, and conference sponsorships across SF and LA.
- Run account-based event programs with sales, designing executive dinners and roundtables around target accounts with structured follow-up.
- Build recurring event series in both cities to establish consistent Nectar presence.
- Manage budgets, vendors, venues, and logistics; develop repeatable processes for scaling.
- Partner with sales and customer success on event strategies that generate pipeline and deepen customer relationships.
- Track and report event ROI (attendance, sourced/influenced pipeline, customer sentiment) and use data to refine the calendar.
- Represent Nectar at West Coast industry conferences and manage on-site logistics, staffing, and sponsor deliverables.
COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support launch and growth of Nectar's customer and industry community program (Slack community, ambassador program, customer council).
- Run content and engagement cadence: AMAs, office hours, member spotlights, peer-to-peer discussion.
- Leverage in-person events to feed community growth and activate attendees as members.
- Build authentic relationships with key West Coast customers, creators, and industry voices.
- Identify and cultivate community advocates for case studies, referrals, and word-of-mouth growth.
- Feed community insights and feedback to product, marketing, and customer success teams.
You'll report directly to marketing leadership and work closely with sales, customer success, and founders. The role requires 20-30% travel to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and industry conferences.
BENEFITS:
- Competitive compensation and early equity
- Health, vision, dental benefits + 401(k) match
- ClassPass membership
- $50/month mobile stipend, $50/month internet stipend for remote work
- Hybrid schedule: 4 days in office + 3 remote flex days per quarter (after 3 months)
- Free lunch at Palo Alto office (University Ave)
- $1,000/month housing stipend for living near office
- Fully paid commuter benefits (train stipend or parking reimbursement)
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-8 years of experience in B2B event marketing, community management, or hybrid of both, primarily at B2B SaaS companies.
- Track record of running B2B field and executive events end-to-end (concept through post-event reporting) that sourced and accelerated pipeline with sales.
- Fluency in B2B event measurement: campaign attribution in HubSpot or Salesforce, sourced vs. influenced pipeline, post-event follow-up with target accounts.
- Experience supporting or growing an online or in-person community.
- Based in or near Palo Alto with working knowledge of Bay Area and LA event scenes (venues, vendors, key people).
- Comfort operating with high autonomy in early-stage environment where processes don't exist yet; excited to build them.
- Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple events across two markets without dropping details.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with genuine interest in connecting with people.
- Willingness to travel regularly (20-30% estimated).
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in social media, marketing technology, or creator economy space.
- Experience marketing to brand, social, or marketing leaders as buyers.
- Existing network in Bay Area tech and LA consumer brand/creator communities.
- Familiarity with community platforms (Slack, Discord, Circle) and event tools (Luma, Bizzabo, HubSpot).
- Prior experience as early hire at startup building a function from zero to one.
