Base Power is America's next-generation power company deploying a distributed battery network to transform the centralized electrical grid into a resilient and abundant system. The company is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Engineer to support field operations teams in Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations including Texas Health and Safety Codes, OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH standards. You will collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures across operations. Key responsibilities include: - Execute industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts against human health thresholds - Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, implementing machine guarding as needed - Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits - Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures - Develop safety solutions following a safety order of precedence (elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, and PPE) - Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with environmental regulations - Ensure environmental compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements The EH&S team is responsible for building and maintaining a safety-embedded culture across Base's rapidly growing operations. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that values ownership, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving. You will partner closely with field, warehouse, manufacturing, and leadership teams to identify risks and implement practical solutions. Base is a startup where priorities shift quickly; your role may expand based on business needs. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in engineering with emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering - 3+ years of experience in design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety disciplines - Demonstrated ability to research and apply best industrial and working practices - Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems - Strong knowledge and experience interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations - Experience with emergency response communication and incident management involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
