Talon. One, an Adyen company, is a leading incentives engine that unifies loyalty, personalized promotions, and offer management into a single platform. The company serves over 300 enterprise brands including Sephora, Gymshark, and Costa Coffee.
As an Enterprise Sales Engineer, you will serve as the technical advisor for Talon. One's most strategic clients, bridging their complex architectural needs with the platform's capabilities. You'll build long-term partnerships rather than focus on transactional deals, and work closely with technology and agency partners to guide technical integration and unlock value.
You'll join a 6-person Sales Engineering team in AMER (part of a 14-person global SE organization) reporting to the Head of Sales Engineering AMER. The role is based in one of four US hubs (Boston, NYC, Chicago, San Francisco) with occasional travel (10-20%).
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct deep technical discovery with existing clients to map architecture, gaps, and requirements
- Design and architect solutions, including custom POCs, that withstand enterprise scrutiny
- Own the technical thread of RFI/RFP responses for major accounts, shaping early differentiation
- Customize demo material and messaging for each client's business, challenges, and audience
- Guide technology and agency partners through technical onboarding and training
- Build and maintain relationships with technical stakeholders up to CTO and CPO level
- Execute Proofs of Technology (on-site or remote) that convert technical trust into commercial momentum
- Partner with the Strategic Account team to translate discovery into tailored value propositions
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Business Analyst consultant, ideally in commerce or customer engagement
- Deep understanding of modern application architecture, including REST APIs, microservices, and container deployment
- Experience navigating technically complex products that span multiple departments (Marketing, Tech, Loyalty, Procurement, Pricing, Merchandising)
- Track record of long-tenured, relationship-driven work rather than fast quarterly deal cycles
- Ability to build consensus across technical and business stakeholders in large organizations
- Strong ability to explain complex technical ideas in plain, concise language to both technical and business audiences
