Check is rebuilding payroll infrastructure by powering businesses that deliver payroll services. As the inventors of embedded payroll, Check provides API infrastructure and a platform for partners to launch, grow, and scale payroll businesses.
You will serve as General Manager for a portfolio of 5–10 high-priority enterprise partners. This is a strategic, high-visibility role requiring autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and deep customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with enterprise partners by understanding their business goals across multiple stakeholders
- Act as a strategic advisor, investigating blockers, recommending solutions, and creating execution plans to unlock partner revenue and efficiency
- Manage the full post-sales partner lifecycle: launch, milestone setting, renewals, and success metrics alignment
- Develop and execute communication cadences with your partner portfolio
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives (Sales, R&D, Marketing, Product, Enablement) around partner needs, product launches, roadmap updates, and incident management
- Evaluate new product/feature adoption with partners and facilitate feedback loops with Check's Product team
- Travel to team on-sites 1–2 times per year and occasional partner visits (~1x quarterly)
You will work in a distributed, fast-paced environment with high autonomy. Success requires ruthless prioritization, comfort with technical and commercial complexity, and the ability to navigate enterprise organizational politics while building meaningful relationships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, including:
- SaaS experience (fintech or payroll experience a plus)
- Strategic growth or consulting experience
- Post-sales partner/account management or existing account growth experience
- Demonstrated success owning a portfolio of customer or partner relationships with complex technical/product needs
- Familiarity with AI tools and curiosity about improving partner workflows
- Empathy and genuine care for partner success
- Ability to run toward hard problems, prioritize truth over consensus, and thrive in technically and commercially complex environments
- Strong ability to navigate enterprise partner organizational politics and develop meaningful relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex ideas concisely in partner calls, escalations, and executive settings
- Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency or familiarity with Zendesk, Google Workspace, Notion, and similar tools
- Strong documentation practices and CRM discipline
- Enthusiasm for collaborative planning, execution, and team celebration
- Ability to travel to team on-sites and occasional partner visits
