Sportradar, a NASDAQ-listed sports technology company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical strategy and culture within its iGaming division. This is a hands-on leadership role combining architectural vision with people management.
You will define the engineering culture and architectural vision for sports-based casino games, partnering with leadership to translate product strategy into robust, scalable technical roadmaps. Key responsibilities include:
• Architectural Vision: Lead the design and evolution of highly resilient, low-latency, distributed architectures powering iGaming products. Ensure systems handle massive concurrency and real-time video and sports data streams.
• AI-Augmented Engineering: Champion adoption of AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cody) within the development lifecycle. Define standards for AI-assisted code generation, automated documentation, test-case generation, and legacy code refactoring to improve team velocity and code quality.
• Engineering Excellence: Set best-practice standards. Guide teams in test-driven development, security-first design, and clean-code principles. Foster an environment where quality and speed are partners, not trade-offs.
• Cross-Team Enablement: Break down silos across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless product delivery and technical alignment.
• Hands-On Technical Leadership: Stay close to the code. Dive into critical path issues, participate in complex problem-solving, and lead by example in difficult refactoring and high-stakes feature implementations.
• Mentorship & Growth: Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers, cultivating a culture of continuous learning. Success is measured by the growth and autonomy of engineers around you.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years of software development experience with proven track record in iGaming, betting, or high-concurrency real-time gaming sectors
• Expert-level proficiency in Java/JVM ecosystems and modern front-end frameworks (React, TypeScript)
• Deep experience leveraging AI coding assistants to improve development workflows; understanding of secure, enterprise-grade integration
• Proven ability to architect complex, distributed systems in the cloud with deep AWS expertise (ECS, EKS, RDS, S3)
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple squads
• Exceptional communication skills translating complex technical constraints into business risks/opportunities for non-technical leadership
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Expertise in low-latency game engine architecture (mobile or browser-based)
• Experience building and scaling real-time video streaming solutions
• Knowledge of global iGaming regulatory requirements and compliance standards
• Strong understanding of DevOps as a culture, not just a toolset
