Sportradar, a NASDAQ-listed sports technology company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical strategy within its iGaming division. This is a high-impact leadership role combining hands-on technical expertise with people management and architectural vision.
You will define engineering culture and architectural direction for sports-based casino games, partnering with leadership to translate product strategy into scalable technical roadmaps. Key responsibilities include:
• Designing and evolving highly resilient, low-latency distributed architectures that handle massive concurrency and real-time video/sports data streams
• Championing AI-augmented development by integrating AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cody) into the development lifecycle, establishing standards for AI-assisted code generation, automated documentation, test generation, and legacy refactoring
• Setting engineering excellence standards through test-driven development, security-first design, and clean-code principles
• Breaking down silos across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless product delivery
• Staying hands-on with critical path issues, participating in complex problem-solving, and leading high-stakes feature implementations
• Mentoring Staff and Senior Engineers, fostering continuous learning and autonomy
The company operates on a hybrid model with four days per week in the Vienna office. Sportradar has engineering offices across Europe, Asia, and the US, with a global, inclusive culture emphasizing collaboration and innovation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years of software development experience with proven track record in iGaming, betting, or high-concurrency real-time gaming sectors
• Expert-level proficiency in Java/JVM ecosystems and modern front-end frameworks (React, TypeScript)
• Deep experience leveraging AI coding assistants to improve development workflows, with understanding of secure enterprise-grade integration
• Proven ability to architect complex distributed systems in the cloud, with deep AWS expertise (ECS, EKS, RDS, S3)
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple squads
• Exceptional communication skills translating complex technical constraints into business risks/opportunities for non-technical leadership
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Expertise in low-latency game engine architecture (mobile or browser-based)
• Experience building and scaling real-time video streaming solutions
• Knowledge of global iGaming regulatory requirements and compliance standards
• Strong understanding of DevOps as a culture
