Foodics is a leading restaurant management ecosystem and payment tech provider founded in 2014, headquartered in Riyadh with offices across 5 countries (UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait). The company has processed over 6 billion orders and raised $170 million in the largest SaaS funding round in MENA.
You will join a newly formed ERP platform team as Engineering Manager. This is a hybrid IC/management role with an unusual structure: today the team has three engineers and no direct reports. You will spend most of your time writing production code as a core contributor, building the ERP platform and its integrations into inventory, payments, and POS systems alongside the other engineers.
The role has two distinct phases. In the first phase (now), you are a hands-on engineer owning significant system components end-to-end: core modules, transactional foundations, regulatory compliance, and integration surfaces. You will make architectural decisions that determine the platform's long-term viability, set engineering standards through code review and testing discipline, and work directly with product and domain experts to translate business requirements into system design.
In the second phase, as the product matures into a real line of business, you will build and scale the team around it. You will own hiring (defining roles, running the interview loop, making offers), grow the existing engineers into independent contributors, introduce process at the right moments, and carry the product through its transition into the core business with the team intact.
This role is explicitly not for someone looking to step away from the keyboard. It is for someone who wants to build something from zero and then build the team that owns it.
Key responsibilities:
- Write production code as a core contributor, not as a manager picking up occasional tickets

Requirements:
- 7+ years of engineering experience with time spent leading (as EM, tech lead, or founding engineer)
- Currently hands-on: coding regularly in your present role, not removed from coding for 2+ years
- Meaningful experience building ERP or accounting systems (understanding double-entry bookkeeping, period close, ledger architecture)
- Strong full-stack capability (comfortable from schema to screen)
- AI-native working style: agents and LLM tooling are part of daily practice, with judgment about where their output is reliable
- Experience building something from zero in a small team with unclear requirements and short cycles
- Genuine interest in both halves of the job: building now and team-building later
- Ability to work substantially within GMT+3 timezone
Desirable experience:
- Built or operated a ledger, double-entry engine, or transaction-processing system at scale
- Fintech, banking, payments, or financial services background
- Hired and grown an engineering team from the first few people
- Familiarity with ERP platforms (ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite, SAP)
- ZATCA e-invoicing or comparable regional regulatory work
