Capsa AI is building an AI Operating System for private capital—helping PE firms find, research, analyze, and monitor investments at scale. The company has achieved 15x ARR growth in the last 12 months, product-market fit with leading multi-billion-dollar PE firms, and recently raised a large Series A to scale globally.
You will manage engineers across three squads (Intelligence, Experience, and Platform), owning hiring, people development, and technical leadership. You'll partner with product managers and technical leads to translate company priorities into clear objectives, shape solutions collaboratively, and establish credible delivery plans. Your accountability spans engineering capability, work quality, and delivery against commitments. You'll make capacity, dependencies, and risks visible, resolve obstacles, and work with the CTO and Product leadership when priorities or scope need adjustment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hiring, coaching, and performance management across all three squads, developing engineers and technical leads who make good decisions and take ownership
- Shaping engineering management practices at Capsa alongside the CTO and Product, establishing clear responsibilities and a consistent operating approach in a lean, flat structure
- Assessing and improving the codebase, delivery processes, and engineering capability across squads
- Establishing technical ownership within each squad, with engineers taking responsibility for decisions
- Helping squads deliver meaningful improvements end-to-end and assess customer impact
- Implementing a lightweight planning and delivery rhythm that makes commitments, dependencies, and risks visible
Recent technical projects include an Agent Harness with a custom streaming-first graph execution framework, an interruptible Code Execution Framework for programmatic tool calling, a VLM-based OCR pipeline with domain-aware search, an end-to-end Citations system, and collaborative Document Authoring tooling.
You'll work alongside a small, senior, high-performing engineering team and receive meaningful equity in a fast-growing company.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Several years of direct management experience managing engineers; strong individual contributor background at a venture-backed startup or serious tech company before that
- Experience coordinating work across teams or substantial parallel workstreams, resolving dependencies and competing demands while keeping ownership with engineers
- Track record of hiring, developing people, and making team-shape decisions as the organization scaled
- Experience shipping distributed systems, data pipelines, or platform services to production through a team you led
- Comfortable operating at pace with incomplete information
- Takes responsibility for what your team ships and its effect on customers, not just internal velocity metrics
- Thinks carefully about problems and team decisions; uses AI to sharpen thinking, not replace it
- Accepts incomplete information, makes progress, and adjusts as more is known
