Teads is a leading omnichannel advertising platform processing 18 billion ad opportunities daily and reaching over 2.2 billion unique users monthly. The company recently merged Outbrain and Teads to create a unified platform spanning CTV, mobile, and web advertising.
You will manage the Ad Experience team, a distributed group of 4 frontend/full-stack engineers (3 based in Ljubljana, 1 in Montpellier). You report directly to the Engineering Director in Montpellier and collaborate daily with a dedicated Product Manager in Ljubljana. The team is responsible for the complete lifecycle of creative assets on the Enterprise side, building core tools including:
- Studio: A flagship WYSIWYG web application for crafting and animating rich ad experiences
- Creative Editor: A guided workflow for building streamlined creatives quickly
- Ad Delivery & Players: Proprietary in-browser players rendering ad formats across millions of web pages
The technology stack is front-end leaning (Angular, React, TypeScript) backed by Node.js and Scala services. A major strategic priority is building an intelligent AI agent that will empower creators to design high-performing creatives faster through an AI-based design scoring system.
Your mission is to mentor, support, and empower your engineering team while collaborating with product and cross-functional partners. You will establish a highly trusting, psychologically safe environment where engineers thrive. Key responsibilities include:
- Nurturing team members through regular 1:1s, constructive feedback, and tailored career growth plans
- Fostering an inclusive, trusting environment with open communication and shared ownership
- Building strong distributed collaboration practices between Ljubljana and Montpellier
- Partnering with the Product Manager and UX design to translate product strategies into actionable milestones
- Guiding continuous development of creative platforms and browser ad players
- Championing the rollout of the AI-assisted design agent and real-time scoring system
- Facilitating alignment across the full-stack ecosystem
- Removing blockers and refining workflows to maintain a healthy, sustainable pace
- Connecting your team with cross-functional partners across the wider organization

REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience guiding and supporting software engineers as a manager, team lead, or mentor; OR significant experience as a senior/principal engineer working autonomously in remote/distributed setups with a strong desire to transition into formal management
- Strong understanding of modern web ecosystems, comfortably navigating front-end systems (TypeScript, Angular, React) and backend setups (Node.js, Scala, or similar)
- Fluent English with strong active listening skills, empathy, and highly collaborative approach to problem-solving
- Right to work in Slovenia (Ljubljana-based hybrid setup)
BONUS:
- Experience building or scaling rich web applications, WYSIWYG editors, canvas tools, or complex web ad formats
- Exposure to integrating AI/LLM models or intelligent scoring systems into intuitive, user-facing products
- Hands-on experience nurturing cross-border collaboration between international engineering hubs
