Salary: USD 128,000 - 162,000 / annual

Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures advanced battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. As an R&D Battery Operations Engineer, you will sustain and improve the capabilities necessary to enable customers to realize the advantages of Sila's technology in real-world battery cells. You will work hands-on in the lab approximately 75% of the time, collaborating with technicians, scientists, and other engineers to produce high-quality battery materials and assemblies. Key responsibilities include: - Implement and monitor quality control procedures to reduce defects and improve product quality, including incoming material, in-process, and final material inspection - Establish statistical process control (SPC) charts for process monitoring and conduct root cause analyses (RCAs) - Lead continuous improvement projects on battery assembly and testing processes, implementing lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies - Mentor, train, coach, and support technicians in the lab - Maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, changes, and improvements - Perform data mining and generate reports on process performance, efficiency, and quality metrics - Scope, plan, and integrate new equipment and processes to improve performance, output, and yield You should have hands-on industrial laboratory or manufacturing experience, demonstrated ability to learn and improve systems, strong collaborative and self-motivated working style, proficiency in data collection and analysis, and understanding of materials science. Battery production and testing experience is highly desired. The role requires passing a respirator fit test and wearing personal protective equipment daily, including lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.
